A new Bushwick hotel is sticking to its graffitied roots.

Designed by ODA New York, 71 White Street will be built on top of a former manufacturing building, keeping the structure’s graffitied brick exterior. The seven-story building will feature 100 hotel rooms, retail on the bottom two floors and a rooftop bar. The developer, All Year Management, bought the site for $9.4 million in November 2014.

The hotel portion of the building will be cantilevered over the second floor, which will feature an outdoor promenade, ArchDaily reported. According to ODA, the interior of the old industrial building will be gutted but its exterior — covered in graffiti by local artists — will be preserved to “maintain the character of the neighborhood.”

The hotel’s design also falls in line with ODA’s penchant for incorporating outdoor space in the firm’s designs. In November, the firm released renderings of a Midtown East residential project that incorporates outdoor private gardens between the tower’s floors. [ArchDaily]Kathryn Brenzel
